    5. Ronin
    6. Magnolia
    7. Taxi 1 & 2  ( French)
    8. It’s A Wounderfull Life
    9. The Field
    10. Star Wars  ( The Empire Strikes Back )

My all time favorite Film and has been now for over 20 years is Betty Blue  or 37°2 le matin  as it was known france. Directed by Jean-Jacques Beineix it was nominated for a Oscar in 1986 for best foreign. The photography in this film is what makes it head and shoulders above the rest.
The Godfather must be on everyone’s top 10 list and i guess i could have put 2 and 3 in there too, its a film you could watch over and over again.
Once upon a time in America is another Mafia film this a a brilliant film that is almost 3 hrs long and gripping throughout.
The Phantom of the Opera might seem a strange choice but having seen the stage show 6 times , this film  is so close to the stage musical , i never have the need to see a live performance again.
Ronin the 3rd film in my top ten that has Robert de nero in it, great car chases, and a great story line with loads of twists, and not only in the French Reviera roads. Magnolia is such a powerfull story, or should that be stories, and Tom Cruise’s best acting performance to date, as well as a great performance by Phillip Seymore Hoffman, long before he was known for his Copote, Oscar performance. The soundtrack by Amie Mann is top class too.
Taxi  1 & 2 is a french comedy classic, though quiet new , the gags , stunts and general run of the film is  excelent, have yet to see the 3 instalment and I hear that 4 is in filiming so will have to wait and see if its as good as the first ones.
It’s A Wounderfull Life is the christmas classic, shot beautifuly in black and white, with a super story line and Jimmy Stewarts best acting performance, I just love watching this film.
John B Keane the writer of the play The Field which was turned into a film by Irish Director Jim Sherridan, was a friend of mine who I photographed often before his timely death  a few years back. I actualy performed in this play when I was 14 but alas my character was wrote out of the film. Limerick actor Richard Harris gave what should have been the Best Actor Oscar performance in this film and he carrys the film through to prefection….Long Live the BULL !
And finaly, Star Wars, I was a teen when George Lucas  entertained us in the cinema’s with the Star Wars Trilogy. Little did we know at the time how advance the films were for the time. Still today the effects look so realistic. the last 3 produced did not come near the first 3.

So there you are that my choice of top 10 films, a few close ones were Schindler List, Shawshank Redemption, Being John Malkovich, Forrest Gump, Appolo 13, Elephant Man, Pirates of the Caribean even Willie Wonka’s not bad..the orignal that is.
